Eagle's Journey

Goodbye said the Eagle
To the birds on the wing
I’m of to the land
Where the honey bird sings
The journey is long
And over the seas
To resolve my mystery
In a forest of trees
With one accord
Voices floated free
Nature’s pure harmony
Played through the leaves
Eagle travelled for days
While courting the skies
Told them the truth
And undid all lies
Into the darkness
Where nature held breath
The Bird of Paradise
Stirred in its nest
I’m here said the Eagle
To unravel a knot
Where is my crown
That the good lord forgot
I’m as bald as a parrot
From a night on the town
Something to cover it
Or else I must drown
Out came the Owl
Blinking his eyes
Looked at the eagle
And laughed till he cried
Tears hit the grass
And made them all soggy
The Owl caught a cold
And said he was sorry
The Eagle looked long
A patient of virtue
Took to his wings
While Finch did a curtsey
Went back to his home
Wiser and clear
It was all in his head
And the rest was just fear.
