Unaccountable Love

Jenny Wren

Built a little egg

Made out of chicken wire

Then sent it out to beg

Fourteen years and seventeen days

He collected up the flow

Until a cowslip riding side saddle

Asked if he could grow

Slighted and bewildered

With holes as big as mines

He charged her with his credit card

Though he did not know the time

No larger than a petal

They fell into a state

Married in the north of June

Through the pearly gate

He slipped upon her finger

They rolled amongst the hay

Having found each other

Spent counting up the days
