Packet and Packet
Lived on a shelf
Colours all different
The size of an quelf
Silent and wooden
Though made of card
Standing so still
Was ever so hard
One day came a shudder
They fell to the ground
Hitting the floor
A dreadful sound
Chicken peas and lentils
Sultanas and rice
Mixed up with custard
Not very nice
Sage with the onions
Parted their ways
While a dusting of soup
Just wouldn’t behave
Entered the elf
His face very grim
Such was the waste
He thought it a sin
Pushing a shovel
Quickly a mound
Stirred it with water
Moved it around
Into the oven
Ever so fast
Cooked it hard
So it would last
Down came an angel
Wandering free
I’ll take that Elfie
We’ll have it for tea
He charged her a shilling
And a kiss on the cheek
Would you believe it
He didn’t wash for a week
