Olivia trod

On a black adders head

Buried him quietly

In the sofa as dead

Down sat her father

With a large beer

When out came the snake

Shedding a tear

‘Your daughters a mischief’

He said with a sigh

‘Smothered in cushion

and then left to die’

Olivia smiled sweetly

It was the end of the day

‘Won’t you pass quickly

And go on your way’

Faster than flash

As straight as a dart

He pronged her poor dad

Deep in the heart

Alas for the snake

His end was disastrous

For her daddy was covered

His body well plastered

With forked tongue all broken

Head in a daze

The adder departed

With barely a wave

Now if you tread on a snake

And think that it’s dead

Not in the sofa

But under the bed
