Naughty Meg Butler
Is in trouble again
She fell down the stairs
Because she’s a pain
The reasons quite clear
For this troubled Miss
Her bodies the size
Of Dover’s white cliffs
Though measures are taken
Every day
To keep her from eating
And losing her way
She hides in the cupboard
Looking for snails
Crawls in the attic
For dust covered quails
Or out in the garden
Eating the sun
Grass from the garden
And not having fun
At the end of the day
No wiser no thinner
She begs on her knees
For a mountain of dinner
Because we are kind
Give into her pleads
Provide her with food
With just what she needs
Plate full of lettuce
A radish or two
Cucumber slices
And cheese that is blue
She cries to the eyes
That it isn’t fair
Howled at the day
Though he wasn’t there
Weeks pass to months
Days into years
One day Naughty Meg
Had quite disappeared
